MANILDRA ETHANOL TO FIJI in fight against global pandemic

Leading Australian ethanol producer, Manildra Group was proud to donate and deliver their medical-grade ethanol to Fiji, critically required for use in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Dan Tehan congratulated Manildra Group for its role in extending the hand of diplomatic friendship to Fiji, and for its quick response. Mr Tehan said the humanitarian value of the exercise far outweighed the cost of the goods and airfreight.

“The efforts of the Morrison Government and Manildra Group to support our Pacific neighbours demonstrates the strength of the relationship between Australian exporters and international partners, especially in the agri-business space,” Mr Tehan said.

Working with the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) and the Australian High Commissioner to Fiji, Australian family-owned Manildra Group responded to an urgent request by the Fijian Centre for Disease Control for ethanol to be used in COVID-19 testing kits.

“We were pleased to move quickly providing our Australian-made sustainable ethanol to protect the community health of Fijians, as part of our company’s response to the pandemic,” Manildra Group Managing Director John Honan said.

“As one of the largest exporters of Australian-made food and industrial products, Austrade has been integral in helping us expand internationally by facilitating connections, and providing exceptional market knowledge, advice and support.”

Manildra Group produces premium ethanol including a range of grades for food and beverages, pharmaceuticals and personal care, industrial applications and transport fuels at our Shoalhaven Starches site in Nowra, New South Wales.
